Candia Castellani Illustratrice/Autrice/Sceneggiatrice/Direttrice della Scuola di Illustrazione di Scandicci Candia Castellani nasce a Firenze il 6 marzo 1978, sotto il segno dei Pesci. Allieva dell’illustratore Leonardo Mattioli, si diploma nel 1997 all’Istitituto d’Arte di Firenze, indirizzo Comunicazione e spettacolo.Nel 2005 si laurea presso il Dams di Bologna, indirizzo Cinema, con una tesi sulla Romantic Comedy e la sceneggiatura di Nora Ephron.Negli anni di studio, lavora saltuariamente come assistente presso Sergio Staino, il disegnatore di Bobo. Negli stessi anni collabora con l’appena nato Metropoli (rotocalco fiorentino) e nel 2006 con l’Unità (per il giorno dell’anniversario del giornale) come ritrattista. Contemporaneamente si attiva come lettrice di libri per bambini e realizzatrice di laboratori artistici per l’infanzia. Da allora si occupa della divulgazione al piacere della lettura presso strutture scolastiche per l’infanzia e biblioteche, ma la sua occupazione principale rimane l’illustrazione. Nel 2006 frequenta la scuola di Sarmede con l’illustratrice Linda Wolfsgruber. Dal 2007 al 2009 è allieva di Octavia Monaco. Nel 2010 prende lezioni private presso Arianna Papini. Nel 2010 e 2011 collabora con la rivista Re Nudo, Nuovo Re Nudo Editore e Il Caffè Illustrato, Incipit s.r.l. diretto da Walter Pedullà. Dal 2010 lavora per il mensile specializzato Doctor Pediatria, Ariete Salute Editore per cui esegue mensilmente le cover. Nel 2010 ha pubblicato come autrice ed illustratrice l’albo illustrato La Principessa del Taj Mahal, Aliberti Editore Jr., Reggio Emilia. Nel 2011 viene chiamata da gli organizzatori della mostra de Le immagini della Fantasia per esporre, a Sarmede, una delle tavole de La Principessa del Taj Mahal, per la rassegna Fiabe delle Terre d’India. Nel 2018 viene selezionata a Lucca Comics&Gamese, Junior per Oltre gli spazi inesplorati: sull tracce di Jules Verne. Nel 2020 viene selezionata per l’Annual 2020 di Autori di Immagini e vince il premio Senza Filtri e medaglia di Bronzo per la sezione Magazine. Da Marzo 2015 è illustratrice, insegnante e direttrice della Scuola di Illustrazione di Scandicci. Attualmente collabora con il settimanale L’Espresso, Bibliolibrò Editore, L’Orto della cultura, Istituto degli Innocenti (Firenze), Rotary Club. E’ rappresentata dall’agenzia letteraria Gilam Agency. Fisicamente vive a Firenze, mentalmente a Bologna (città di adozione) e su tanti altri piccoli mondi non sempre reali che si arreda e prende cura con devozione.

Candia Castellani Illustrator / Author / Screenwriter / Director of the Scandicci School of Illustration Candia Castellani was born in Florence on March 6, 1978, under the sign of Pisces. Student of the illustrator Leonardo Mattioli, she graduated in 1997 from the Institute of Art in Florence, specialization in Communication and Entertainment. In 2005 she graduated from the Dams in Bologna, specialization in Cinema, with a thesis on Romantic Comedy and the screenplay by Nora Ephron During his years of study, he occasionally worked as an assistant to Sergio Staino, Bobo's designer. In the same years he collaborated with the newly born Metropoli (Florentine rotogravure) and in 2006 with the Unit (for the newspaper's anniversary) as a portraitist. At the same time she became active as a reader of children's books and creator of artistic workshops for children. Since then, he has been involved in disseminating the pleasure of reading in children's schools and libraries, but his main occupation remains illustration. In 2006 he attended the Sarmede school with the illustrator Linda Wolfsgruber. From 2007 to 2009 she was a pupil of Octavia Monaco. In 2010 she took private lessons with Arianna Papini. In 2010 and 2011 he collaborated with the magazine Re Nudo, Nuovo Re Nudo Editore and Il Caffè Illustrato, Incipit s.r.l. directed by Walter Pedullà. In 2010 she published the illustrated book La Principessa del Taj Mahal, Aliberti Editore Jr., Reggio Emilia, as author and illustrator. In 2011 she was called by the organizers of the exhibition of The Images of Fantasy to exhibit, in Sarmede, one of the tables of The Princess of the Taj Mahal, for the Fairy Tales of the Lands of India review. In 2018 she was selected at Lucca Comics & Gamese, Junior for Beyond the unexplored spaces: on the trail of Jules Verne. In 2020 she was selected for the 2020 Annual of Authors of Images and won the Without Filters award and Bronze medal for the Magazine section. Since March 2015 she is illustrator, teacher and director of the Scandicci School of Illustration. He currently collaborates with the weekly L’Espresso, Bibliolibrò Editore, The Garden of Culture, Istituto degli Innocenti (Florence), Rotary Club. It is represented by the Gilam Agency literary agency. Physically she lives in Florence, mentally in Bologna (city of adoption) and on many other small worlds that are not always real, which she furnishes and takes care of with devotion.
